Sears_Tower_ss
Another episode of Magnificent Metal Mondays is upon us and today we travel to Chicago, IL. Yes you guessed it the Sears Tower, umm I mean the Willis
Tower as it is called today.  The tower stands at 1,729 feet and was built in 1974. It was the tallest building in the world from 1974-1998, by structural height. It is still the second tallest building in the Americas and Western Hemisphere. Design and construction was done by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.
An interesting fact is that the owners of the building in February 2009 had considered painting the building. Imagine painting the Willis Tower? What a project that would be. That idea was later scrapped especially considering the price tag of $50 million that came with it.
