The construction industry showed modest gains in April. Construction spending had risen slightly. Primarily, home building and government construction drove the total activity number to its highest level in five years. Economists expected a higher number but I think overall we have to be satisfied with this. I know some of the data can be really seasonal and skewed, but it’s a positive so let’s celebrate it. This does show that the construction industry is recovering after a rough winter and it will certainly help boost the economy. We’ve seen some excellent data across our economy lately and it supports the fact that America may be on the quick rebound. Now if we could only figure out some of the other issues.
