I can’t believe I hadn’t noticed this place at 625 West 57th Street in my last trip to New York City. The only reason I found out about it is because I saw it on one of the news feeds this morning.
Anyhow, there is a pyramid looking building going up in NYC at that address. It looks like it is specifically residential from what I have read. From looking at the structures design I can’t decide if I love it or hate it. One minute I love it and another minute I don’t. The other thought I have is I feel like it doesn’t belong in the city of New York, it feels more like it belongs next door to the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. The developer on the project is Durst Fetner Residential and the design architects are the Bjarke Ingels Group along with SLCE Architects.
The building will rise to 467 feet and have 32 floors above ground. While the building will serve primarily as a residential one with 709 apartments there will also be retail/commercial space for use. The Pyramid, or actual name being West57 will be completed in 2015. To find out more information about West57 click here.
