The Times shreveporttimes.com – Vickie Welborn February 24, 2015 – A national award coveted in the construction business is in the hands of locally-owned Brown Builders of Bossier City.  President Kristen Brown, founder and board chairman Wayne Brown and vice president Mike Walker on Monday night accepted  the Butler Manufacturing North America Volume Builder of the Year award during the annual sales meeting held in Nashville, Tenn. Additionally, Brown Builders was named the Butler Builder of the Year.
The awards are the highest given by Butler, a world leader in building solutions and the largest provider of metal building construction materials. There are over 1,400 Butler Builders worldwide; Brown Builders has been in the number since 1974.
The awards typically go to separate companies, Kristen Brown said. Brown Builders’ recognition and receipt of both is a credit to the Louisiana commercial construction partners who helped the third generation, family-owned business sell more than 1 million square feet of Butler’s pre-engineered metal buildings, which Kristen Brown describes as the “Cadillac of all buildings.”
A big contributor to that number is the Benteler Steel Tube project at the Caddo/Bossier Port that Brown Builders is involved with along with its national contracting partner Walbridge.
“This is a huge honor for us,” Kristen Brown said.
Wayne Brown said what is most important about the prestigious award is that “Brown Builders is a Louisiana company using Louisiana people to provide building solutions and to take care of the construction needs of large projects that might otherwise go to out-of-state companies. Because of our 40-plus years’ experience and because we are a part of one of the largest networks of construction professionals in the world, Butler Manufacturing, we are able to offer complete turnkey design-build services that help keep the work in Louisiana.”
Presenting the award on behalf of Butler Manufacturing was President Tom Gilligan and Harry Yeatman, vice president of sales and strategy.
