OrienteEach Monday we will feature a magnificent metal structure that is impressive. To promote this activity we encourage you to use the #METALCON15 and tweet us @METALCON. For today’s feature we travel to Europe, yes the same ones some of us may have thought were being a bit arrogant from today’s earlier post. This structureis located in Lisbon, Portugal and is called the Gare do Orient Station. The station serves as a transportation hub for subways, taxis, buses, and commuter rails. It was designed by Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava. The steel construction on the station was done by EMESA Elaborados Metalicos S.A.
Oriente Station is one of the largest transportation hubs in the world. 75 million passengers pass through the station on a yearly basis making it just as busy as Grand Central Terminal in New York City. To view more impressive images of this structure click here.
