wembley-007
Another Magnificent Metal Mondays is upon us. Today we travel to Wembley Park, in London, England to visit the magical Wembley Stadium. The stadium opened
in 2007 on the same grounds where the old stadium had been. The stadium was designed by HOK Sport, now known as Populous, and Foster & Partners. The stadium plays host to many events including the legendary FA Cup, and FA Community Shield. The next big event will be the FA Cup Final when Arsenal plays Hull on May 17th. The stadium cost 798 million pounds to build which makes it one of the most expensive stadiums ever built.
Wembley has some magnificent features including a partially retracting roof, a 440 ft high steel arch, making it the longest single span structure in the world. A total of 23,000 tonnes of steel and 120,000 cubical yards of concrete were used in the construction of the new stadium.
