For today’s feature we travel to Europe, specifically to the Iberian Peninsula. In all actuality to one of the oldest countries in Europe that is always overlooked for travel because of their neighbors. Welcome to Lisbon, Portugal and the Gare do Oriente Station. The station serves as a transportation hub for subways, taxis, buses, and commuter rails. It was designed by Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava. The steel construction on the station was done by EMESA Elaborados Metalicos S.A.
Oriente Station is one of the largest transportation hubs in the world. 75 million passengers pass through the station on a yearly basis making it just as busy as Grand Central Terminal in New York City. To view more impressive images of this structure click here.
