Aesthetics, construction time and costs were key factors when METALCON‘s long standing partner, Convention Data Services (CDS), made the decision to use metal for building their new 30,000 square foot headquarters. CDS has been one of METALCON’s business partners since the show’s inception providing registration and lead retrieval services. Having outgrown their former office space, CDS turned to the industry they have worked with for over 25 years to construct their new Headquarters in Bourne, Massachusetts.John Kimball, President and CEO of CDS, commented, “It was really a clear decision to go with a metal pre-engineered design. Having worked with the METALCON show and being exposed to the benefits of a metal building, I knew it would fit our needs.” He added, “Aesthetically, the single level building is not only architecturally attractive but it is also creates a more efficient and collaborative work space by having the team all on the same floor.” Kimball was also pleased with the timeline of the construction process which positively affected the overall budget. “By having a pre-engineered metal building, the construction phase of the project took only 12 months from ground breaking to move-in which decreased upfront construction costs,” he said.
In addition to savings upfront with the construction of the building, CDS is optimistic about day to day savings. In addition to installing LED lighting on the interior and exterior of the building, tinted windows to allow for more efficient natural lighting, they will be installing solar panels in the next 60 days which they estimate will fuel 60% of the building’s power needs.
