Continuing our focus on Women in Construction Week 2020, we will be highlighting women who are making a difference and initiatives targeted to helping women advance in the roofing and construction industry.
Last month, the third annual National Women in Roofing Day was held on Sunday, February 2, 2020 prior to the start of the International Roofing Expo in Dallas. RCS partner and one of METALCON’s speakers, Heidi J. Ellsworth, kicked off the day, speaking about visualization for success. Heidi has played a key role with METALCON over the past two years, creating and leading several educational sessions about the importance of hiring more women in the industry.
At the close of the NWIR Day, Heidi was recognized as the first-ever WORLD AWARD (Woman of Outstanding Roofing Leadership Distinction) winner! Heidi is a true entrepreneur as the sole proprietor of HJE Consulting, partner of RoofersCoffeeShop® and the founder of the National Women in Roofing (NWIR) organization. Her 25+ year career in the roofing industry has spanned the country from coast to coast as well as industry experience from her employment at Malarkey Roofing, Portland, OR; HJE Marketing with Carlisle Syntec, Carlisle, PA; to a position in sales with the 2008 industry tech startup company Eagleview Technologies with whom she advanced to C-Suite status as Executive Vice President of Marketing. METALCON extends a most heartfelt congratulations to this true leader in the roofing industry.
Next on their agenda, NWIR will join forces with the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) to present the Diversity + Inclusion Forum 2020 at Roofing Day in Washington, DC,on April 21, 2020.
METALCON 2020 will mark its 30th Anniversary in Las Vegas, October 21-23, 2020. We look forward to welcoming Heidi back for a third year and while still under development, we are excited to announce that a more comprehensive program focused on women in the metal roofing and construction industry will be offered.
