National SteelDay Events
This year’s SteelDay webinar on Friday, September 25, features an exciting new format: The Structural Stability Game Show, where a panel of engineers and academics present their views on the root cause of a structural collapse. The audience will vote on which cause is most likely before the moderator reveals the true nature of the collapse. The Structural Stability Game Show panel will include Cliff Bishop, Patricia Clayton, John Hooper, Larry Griffis, and Ron Ziemian and participants will be eligible for 1.0 PDHs. Registration is now open!
Mark your calendars! We’ve gathered all 15 of the 2020 AISC individual award recipients for two insightful virtual roundtables. Tune into AISC’s YouTube channel to witness these steel legends discuss the state of the industry, their exciting careers, and life in general. AISC President, Charlie Carter, will moderate each roundtable, and audience members will be invited to submit their own questions during the livestream. Join us as we chat with the best in steel!
Students! Charge up your phone, embrace your creative side, and get ready to have some fun with our 2020 Student SteelDay Photo Contest! After all, what better way is there to celebrate the structural steel industry than by capturing the beauty of American steel? There are some great prizes up for grabs, and the winners will also get their photos published in Modern Steel Construction magazine–not bad, as far as bragging rights go.
BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
SteelDay is the annual celebration of the structural steel industry, sponsored by the AISC and hosted by its members and partners. SteelDay offers events throughout the country for AEC professionals, faculty and students and the public to see firsthand how the vibrant U.S. structural steel industry works to build our country’s buildings and bridges. Hundreds of SteelDay events have taken place since the first SteelDay in 2009, educating thousands of attendees about the domestically fabricated structural steel industry.
