Lee Shoemaker has been the Director of Research and Engineering at the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) since 1994 and inducted into the Metal Construction Hall of Fame in 2015.

A lifelong engineer, Lee earned his BS in Engineering and his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Duke University. After working as a Structural Engineer at Avondale Shipyards in New Orleans, Lee became an assistant professor at Auburn University. He taught undergraduate and graduate courses in structural analysis and design in the Civil Engineering Department and associated research activities for six years before joining Cornell Crane Manufacturing as Vice President of Engineering. More about Lee can be found in this Metal Construction News article when he was inducted in the Metal Construction Hall of Fame.

Having been with MBMA for over 25 years now, Lee has worked to support the goals of the association by increasing market share for metal buildings and making metal buildings the first choice in construction. MBMA provides leadership, research, and education that increase the prominence and usage of metal building systems as the premier solution for performance, aesthetics, and sustainability in building construction. Learn more about MBMA.
