Frequently asked questions

METALCON will continue share our plans for October. Please email the METALCON team at info@metalcon.com if you have additional questions and we will do our best to keep this FAQ updated as quickly as possible.

Q: IS METALCON HAPPENING LIVE THIS YEAR?

A: Yes. METALCON is still scheduled for October 21-23, 2020, in Las Vegas. It will look different as we incorporate health safety measures to ensure public safety and well being, but right now, we’re planning for the show to go on until and unless we’re told by the local government it cannot. What we do know: METALCON brings our industry together both in business and connection, and these necessities will be more important than ever once the COVID-19 crisis is past. As live events return, touchless technology is needed to ensure a safe experience for all attendees and exhibitors. DigiBadge is user during the onsite check-in process as an alternative to traditional print badges. DigiBadge is managed directly from a registrant's personal mobile device, allowing METALCON to provide a completely touchless and highly effective experience.

Q: HOW ARE YOU PROCEEDING WITH THE SHOW AMID TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS AND DISTANCING MANDATES?

A: This is a highly fluid situation and we follow the situation constantly. We are work closely with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) who work with state and local officials, public health officials and the hospitality industry to keep the city, its residents and visitors healthy.

  • We also closely monitor the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization for updates regarding COVID-19 and its impact.
  • With METALCON still months away, we remain optimistic that we can bring the Metal Construction Industry together in October and focus on recovery.
  • In the event that Las Vegas declares the city unsafe, they will declare a force majeure, and METALCON would be canceled.

Q: WHEN WILL A DECISION BE MADE ON WHETHER OR NOT METALCON WILL BE HELD?

A: At this time, with the current information available, METALCON will proceed as planned. Since COVID-19 is an ever-changing situation, we are monitoring advice from the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, and other government entities. We are in regular contact with the Las Vegas Convention Center, hotels and other vendors involved in METALCON. We are monitoring the entire trade show and event universe as well. If there are any changes in plans due to government bans, the CDC, or consultations with the Las Vegas Convention Center, we will inform exhibitors and attendees immediately.

Q: HOW IS METALCON ENSURING THE SAFETY OF ATTENDEES AND EXHIBITORS?

A: Your safety is our #1 priority. In addition to following government protocols, METALCON has been working diligently with the Las Vegas Convention Center and our hotels to ensure the safety, comfort and confidence of everyone attending the show and staying on their properties.  Our safety measures will include pre-departure health checks, social distancing, hands-free registration, face-masks, one-way exhibit hall aisles, hourly cleaning of public spaces, and more.  We will go above and beyond the local and national standards. We will be discussing our plans on a June 17 broadcast of METALCON Live.  You can down load the podcast here.  We promise, METALCON will still be the annual event the METAL industry loves!

Q: WHAT IS THE LAS VEGAS CONVENTION CENTER DOING TO ENSURE EVENTS ARE SAFE?

A: The Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) is among the first facilities in the nation to undergo and implement the GBAC STAR facility accreditation program on cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention.  Read more here on how the LVCC is making this its top priority in its commitment to the health and safety of employees and visitors.

Q: CAN I RECEIVE A REFUND IF I CANCEL MY EXHIBIT SPACE OR SPONSORSHIP?

A: If force majeure is invoked that releases METALCON from its contractual agreements, we will in turn release its customers from contractual obligations and issue appropriate exhibit booth and sponsorship refunds. In the event of force majeur customers have the option to also allocate 100% of their booth fees to METALCON 2021. Unlike our vendors, members and customers, METALCON is not eligible for government forgiveness loans. Under the current CARES act, only charitable organizations are eligible for relief.

Q: CAN I RECEIVE A REFUND for mY REGISTRATION?

A: A complete refund for your registration will be issued only if notice is received in writing to METALCON headquarters on or before September 30, 2020. Please note: We are watching the situation with COVID-19 very closely and remain optimistic that METALCON will take place as planned. If METALCON must cancel due to COVID-19 we can either refund your registration in full, or transfer it to next years’ event that will take place in Tampa, Florida from October 6-8, 2021.
