Benjamin Blase Caryl is Associate General Counsel for International Trade & Public Policy at United States Steel Corporation, the largest US-based integrated steel producer. At U. S. Steel, Ben leads and manages the company’s trade remedy proceedings and trade policy initiatives including Section 232. Ben currently serves on the International Trade Advisory Committee on Steel that advises the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and U.S. Commerce Department on trade policy and negotiation issues. Prior to joining U. S. Steel, Ben practiced at two international trade law firms in Washington, DC, focusing on trade remedies and trade policy, representing a broad range of industries on both petitioner and respondent sides. Ben also previously served as counsel to U.S. International Trade Commissioner Charlotte Lane and served in the Commerce Department’s Import Administration’s Non-Market Economy Unit. Ben holds a BA and JD from Tulane University and an LLM from Georgetown University Law Center.
